Join us next Monday, March 25, for our Library Board of Trustees public meeting, in-person or via Zoom. We're looking for three Alternate Trustees to the board. An Alternate Trustee is similar to an alternate on a jury. You can learn about the inner workings of the library and ensure your voice is heard. If a Trustee is absent, then you step in to ensure the Board has quorum and you can vote, so we continue to move the work of the EKPL forward. A Board Member is quite similar, if not more a permanent place on the Board of Trustees. The biggest difference between the two positions is that board members are elected positions, meaning the town votes you into office at March's local election. An Alternate is an appointed position. Requirements for these positions are minimal. We have a public meeting on the fourth Monday of every month (meetings generally run 1.5 - 2 hours). Occasionally special meetings will be held, or attendance at a program is required, but not often.
Join us for a screening of “The Hello Girls,’ a documentary based on The Hello Girls by Elizabeth Cobbs. Carolyn Timbie, granddaughter of Grace Banker, Chief Operator of the first unit of 33 Hello Girls, will do an introduction to the film, and will follow with sharing stories and items from her grandmother’s past. Light refreshments will be provided. This program will run from 5pm - 7pm. Check out our Programming pages for full details and future events. www.eastkingstonlibrary.org/programs
