Due to some unforeseen issues, the Robotics program with P.E.A. has been postponed. We will announce when the new date is as soon as we've put it all in place! We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
After over 20 years working for the East Kingston Public Library, Diane is retiring!
Diane started at the East Kingston Public Library in 1999 working in the Pound School with Tracy. She worked her library job alongside her art teaching job at the Barnard School in South Hampton. Over the years, Diane has put together amazing programs focused around art for all ages. Zoe remembers when they made t-shirts with leaves and bleach in the driveway of the Pound School fro summer reading in the early 2000's. She still has the shirt! Heather said one of her favorite memories of the Pound School was when Diane and Tracy greeted her behind the desk ready to help with whatever she needed. Diane created the most beautiful displays. Try as all the rest of the staff might, they could never make as beautiful as Diane did. Diane has hosted programs like Shibori tie dye, barn quilt paintings, and sewing classes. She has taught both children and adults quilting techniques for all levels. Over the years, she created her beautiful quilts for the Friend's Quilt Raffle. She was also adept at finding amazing artists to display their art collections. Since COVID-19 struck, Diane has been working on an East Kingston history project, talking to homeowners and writing histories of the oldest buildings in town, as well as cataloging and categorizing all of our oldest documents. Diane has been instrumental in the function and growth of our town library. She will be greatly missed and we wish her the best in her future endeavors! Happy retirement, Diane! Due to the inclement weather, both the East Kingston Public Library and the Pound School Used Book Store will be closed today. Please stay safe out there!
We will open back up tomorrow for normal hours. See something you like? Just click on the photo to add your name to the list, or to find out more information!
