Welcome to East Kingston! You will find many great things about this community, especially our wonderful Public Library. You can download the Welcome Packet for your information. We hope this will make it easier for you to find your way around. If you have any ideas on how we can make it better, please let us know.

By way of introduction, I am the President of The Friends of the East Kingston Public Library. The mission of our organization, among other things, is to work in cooperation with library personnel and the Trustees in support our library, to develop and promote programming and to increase public awareness and stimulate the use of the library’s resources. We hope you will consider a membership to The Friends because we do make a difference in this wonderful town. Support over the last year as an example allowed The Friends to provide over $2,500 in children and adult programming and $2,300 in computer, software and furniture.

There are ways you can assist in addition to providing financial support. We are always looking for Program Committee members and for volunteers to work at our Used Book Shop. The Used Book Shop is a vital part of our fundraising efforts and has contributed over $8,000 to our programming budget since it’s opening in August, 2008. If you would like to volunteer for either of these opportunities, please get in touch with me at 778-4968 or Gisela Lloyd at 479-9662. Our meetings are held at the library on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. so come and see for yourself what we are all about!
